Manchester United would prefer to sell Jesse Lingard permanently this month.

Newcastle United have enquired about taking Lingard on loan for the remainder of the season.

With his contract expiring in June, United would rather get something for Lingard now.

Toon have an advantage in the pursuit of Lingard as they are not a direct rival of the Red Devils.

Tottenham have also enquired about the 29-year-old but United do now want to strengthen another side challenging for the top-four.
