PETALING JAYA: Sixteen Sabah PKR division chiefs have extended their protest against state chief Christina Liew by boycotting a key party meeting today.

The group, led by Labuan PKR leader Simsudin Sidek, also reiterated their call to party president Anwar Ibrahim to resolve the leadership crisis immediately.

In a statement, Simsudin said the meeting was also boycotted by the state leaders of the Youth, Wanita, Srikandi and Skuad wings.

“I was informed that today’s Sabah PKR leadership council meeting did not meet the required quorum but continued with the appointment of several individuals (to meet the quorum),” he said, adding he had proof of those who attended the meeting physically and virtually.

Simsudin said it has been 20 days since division chiefs were supposed to meet Anwar in Kota Kinabalu. That meeting was cancelled because of the floods in West Malaysia.

Sabah PKR has 26 divisions.

Last month, the 16 dissenting division chiefs had urged Anwar to replace Liew, saying that Sabah PKR could only be strengthened in facing the coming general election if there was a new leader.

In response, Liew played down the move by the 16 divisions, saying: “I will leave it to the president, this is his authority.”

The 16 leaders who endorsed the move were Sazalye Donol (Kota Marudu), Simsudin Sidek (Labuan), Dausil Kundayong (Tuaran), Franti Kuntau (Papar), Wendey Agung Baruh (Sipitang), Peter Sumping (Ranau), Raymond Ahuar (Pensiangan), Matusin Apang (Batu Sapi), Sahrudin Harol (Sandakan), Romansa Lamin (Silam), Sahrul Zakaria (Kalabakan), Barani Ampise (Tenom), Roslan Hussin (Kimanis), Abdul Gani Zebila (Tawau) and Sangkar Rasam (Keningau).
