
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Muaythai Association are targeting three gold medals at the National Inter-Club competition which started on Thursday at the South City Plaza in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
Its President Nazri Abd Razak said they are represented by nine members of their Sukma squad namely Areen Khan Shazam (48kg), Shah Aryan Shazam (51kg), Shazry Anak Rundy (57kg), Mohd Farish Basri (60kg), Kallen Jafili (63.5kg), Kenny Jafili (71kg) in the men’s category and Nurinsyirah Mandol (45kg), Vireen Teo (48kg) and Nuradriana Nazri (51kg) for the women.
“They have been training at the Tamparuli fight camp under coaches, Cyrille Dhillon Tahing, Vallerio Fernandez and Ranjit Singh Maan from January 19-26 in preparation for the competition.
“All will be competing in their respective category and we are hoping they can bring home three gold medals,” he said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, he also expressed his gratitude to Nestle for sponsoring the team after receiving the athletes’ jackets from Wallace Tan and Kerwin Lim at a ceremony witnessed by Sabah Sports Council development officer Christle Micheal earlier this week.
