5 hurt in Ranau mishap

RANAU: Five people cheated death after two vehicles collided, near here, Sunday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Chief, Ridwan Mohd Taib told the media that the incident occured at about 2.48pm at Km 5.5 of the Ranau-Telupid road, near Kg Kilimu.

“The accident involved two vehicles, a Perodua Axia and a Proton Persona. There were five injured victims aged between 19 and 37 who were carried out of the vehicles by other motorists before the arrival of firemen.

“Four victims were riding in the Perodua Axia. One male and three females while one male victim was driving the Proton Persona.

“The EMRS team provided initial treatment and then handed over the victims to the Ambulance to be sent to the Ranau Hospital for further treatment. The operation ended at 3.02pm,” he said.

Ridwan said the accident caused traffic blockage from both direction considering that the incident occurred in the middle of the road, however traffic flow resumed after both vehicles were towed away from the scene.

Media observation at the location of the accident shows that there is a T-junction right at the area and there is a slight bend on the road.
