Bursa opens slightly higher as investors take cue from Wall Street

KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia opened slightly higher today, as investors took the cue from the uptrend seen in overnight Wall Street and regional bourses, dealers said.

At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI added 0.24 of-a-point to 1,542.14 compared with 1,541.9 at yesterday’s close.

The index opened 0.51 of-a-point better at 1,542.41.

Meanwhile, the ringgit opened lower against the US dollar today as a technical correction continues due to profit-taking activities amid firmer oil prices, dealers said.

At 9am, the local currency was traded at 4.1920/1932 against the greenback from 4.1860/1880 at Monday’s close. – Bernama, January 5, 2022
