
TAWAU: A 54-year-old man was jailed two months and fined RM12,000 in default 12 months’ jail for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Sulaiman Abd Salim pleaded guilty before High Court Deputy Registrar Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to the charge against him.
Sulaiman was found driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol at 1.40am on Jan 9 this year along Jalan Taman Bintang, Batu 3 Jalan Apas, here.
The offence under Section 45(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 carries a jail term of up to two years and fine of up to RM30,000, on conviction.
Sulaiman also disqualified from having driving licence for two years.
The court heard that Sulaiman was detained during the Operasi Mabuk conducted at the area.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Suhaimi Suriana appeared for the prosecution.
