Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Chief Minister cum Works Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has instructed all district Public Works Department (PWD) engineers to monitor the infrastructure under their supervision in view of the unpredictable weather conditions lately.
He said roads that are at risk, including slopes, need to be monitored to ensure they are safe for use by users and if there are suspicious signs, engineers need to inform the Ministry for further action.
Bung said warning signs should be placed at any area at risk to ensure road users are alert and to be more careful when going through the area to avoid unwanted incidents.
He also advised road users not to take any risk, especially small vehicles, to wade through the floodwaters even if it does not seem severe because anything could happen in the blink of an eye.
“The PWD will always update the condition of the slopes along the roads and bridges that are affected by the current floods,” he said.
