Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded two new import Omicron Covid-19 cases according to an update from the Health Director-General on Tuesday.

The two cases were part of 163 new Omicron infections found nationwide between Jan 23 and Tuesday,

Sabah now had a total of eight Omicron cases consisting of six import and two local infections.

Daily Express has reached out to health authorities for the location and origin of the two new Omicron infections.

The Omicron variant has been reported to spread three to four times faster than the Delta variant.

Omicron has been said to cause mild infections but it has overwhelmed hospitals with hospitalised and intensive-care patients as in the United States currently, where the variant is dominant.
