Constructive views welcome, says Hajiji after meeting with MA63 concern group

KOTA KINABALU – Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today said he is open to constructive feedback regarding state governance from non-government organisations (NGOs).

“NGOs should be free to express their opinions on matters which are beneficial to the state and the people,” said the Sulaman assemblyman in a statement.

Earlier, he had met with the Sabah Action Body Advocating Rights (Sabar) Board of Trustees led by chairman Datuk Dr Johan Ariffin Abdul Samad at the Chief Minister’s Office in Menara Kinabalu.

Sabar has also offered to assist the chief minister and the government on matters such as environment, tourism, health and issues in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Hajiji indicated that the state has made headways in MA63, including the passing of the Federal Constitution Amendment 2021 Bill, as well as in matters regarding oil and gas rights, among others.

“In the context of MA63, we have made good progress,” he said.

Johan said Sabar, which was established in April 2021, has 100 members comprising senior members of society and civil servants. – The Vibes, January 10, 2022
