Villarreal defender Pau Torres has revisited turning down Tottenham last summer.
Torres admits Spurs offered him a contract superior to what he is earning with Villarreal this season.
He said, "This summer my representative called me and told me that there was an important offer from Tottenham, more than what I charge now.
"But as I play for my hometown team that few players do, I decided to stay where I am happy."
Torres also revealed: "My idol has always been (Gerard) Piqué. In the national team we just missed eachother. He just dropped out and I showed up. Just as if Piqué hadn't left him, I wouldn't have appeared. Outside the field we have no deal."
