
Kota Kinabalu: Two people claimed trial at the High Court here Monday to drugs trafficking.
Asmah Jinnur, 28, and Filipino Pillah Hajirul, 23, pleaded not guilty before Judge Datuk Nurchaya Hj Arshad to the charges framed against them, respectively.
Asmah is accused of trafficking 3,829.9gm of syabu at 12.12am on July 23, 2019 in a house on Lorong Rimba 2, Taman Rimba, Bandar Sierra, in Manggatal.
Pilah allegedly trafficking 53.3gm of syabu at 12pm on May 17, 2020 in a unit at Blcok D, University Apartment Phase 1, Jalan Sulaman, in Manggatal.
The charge was read out to Pillah in Suluk language.
Each charge framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping of a minimum of 15 strokes.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Amirah Muhammad Ali applied for pre-trial case management date for both cases.
Nurchaya set Feb 17 for PTCM on each case and ordered them be further remanded as the charge against them has no provision for bail.
Asmah and Pillah were represented by counsel Dominic Chew and Azhier Farhan, respectively.
