Aston Villa's move for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bencantur has hit a roadblock.
The Uruguay international is being linked with a move to Villa Park as Steven Gerrard looks to bolster his squad before next Monday's transfer deadline.
Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett has claimed a sell-on clause retained by Bentancur's former club, Boca Juniors, is complicating negotiations.
He posted on Twitter: "Aston Villa negotiations with Juventus for Rodrigo Bentancur ongoing.
"No formal bid so far, but it's thought a sell-on clause inserted by his former club Boca Juniors is complicating the deal.
"If Villa can get him for less than £20m, it's a snip."
Bentancur arrived at Juventus from Boca Juniors in July 2017 for a fee of around £14million
