SEMPORNA: Marine police thwarted an attempt to smuggle out petrol worth RM25,800 to a neighbouring country at the waters of Laut Tanjung Menimpa, near here, on Tuesday night.
Semporna Marine Police Commanding Officer DSP Mohammad Ismail said the boat’s 24-year-old skipper was also detained.
He said several jerry cans containing petrol found on the boat were seized.
“The boat and the jerry cans were brought to the operation base of the Semporna Marine here for further action,” he said, Wednesday.
Mohammad said the case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.
