Middlesbrough are negotiating with Newcastle United for midfielder Jeff Hendrick.
The Ireland international is free to leave Newcastle this month, given manager Eddie Howe is busy in the transfer market.
TEAMtalk reports that Hendrick is most likely to join Boro, as they are in advance talks with Newcastle for his signature.
The deal is likely to be an initial loan, which may include an option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Boro are presently in the playoff positions in the Championship, but are eight points adrift of automatic promotion.
