
Kota Kinabalu: Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) pledged to render cooperation to the government in 2022 by organising more activities and events to boost morale in doing business, promote Sabah, especially to the international trade and investment platform so as to attract more investors to Sabah.
Its President Richard Lim said FSI still remain proactive and help out the State Government with the hope they can help the economy, business and industry recover back to its former glory and prosperity in Sabah.
Of course, he said their business model nowadays needs to be upgraded to keep pace with the times and changes.
“In this era of technology, we need to move our business to a more techno-based business platform to improve our competitiveness, especially during this pandemic, we need to change our mindset and looking for a better business model.
“Just like one of the most potent technology buzzwords, ‘multi-experience’ in which is a concept that has the potential to accelerate the success of countless businesses as long as they are willing to embrace its capabilities,” he said in a statement.
FSI urged the State Government to provide better infrastructures such as better condition roads, good drainage and sewerage systems, among others in which all of these basic infrastructure facilities will affect their businesses, and it will also affect the confidence of the potential investors.
He said the recent disasters such as floods can affect business and even worse, it could cost much more damage if it is not managed and controlled.
In addition, he said FSI members hoped that the government can provide subsidies and financial assistance.
“After 38 years of FSI’s establishment, we are honoured to be recognised by the Ministry of Industrial Development and awarded the ‘Milestone Award’, which recognises us as an important partners for the Ministry in the development and growth strategy in the Sabah industry.
“On behalf of the association, I am very grateful to the government for giving us the recognition, we will continue our spirit of partnership and assist the state government within our capabilities so that we can create a better Sabah,” said Richard.
He said due to the new variant of the Covid-19 virus, he said the general public is still in the stage of worry, local economy and various industries and businesses are in the stage of slow pace recovery.
