KUALA LUMPUR – Police will be investigating Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki according to the Securities Commission Act.
Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that the police reports made against Azam were related to the ownership of shares in various companies.
“The matter that was reported is related to the Securities Commission Act. So they (Securities Commission) will investigate and police will receive information on the investigation’s developments.
“If an offence has been committed, police will start another probe and investigation papers will be opened,” Hamzah said.
Previously, the Securities Commission said that they will be calling in Azam to obtain an explanation and to verify statements made for evidence collection.
Earlier today, several PKR MPs filed police reports against Azam after his admission that his securities accounts were used by his younger brother to purchase shares in companies.
