Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted at a shift in transfer policy.

Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad during the current transfer window and a new midfielder is on their shortlist.

Juventus' Arthur Melo has been offered to them on loan, but the Italian club want to sort a replacement before signing off on any deal.

Arsenal specifically targeted young players last summer, not signing anyone aged over 23, but Arteta has hinted that policy will not remain in place forever.

“The project has different phases and each phase we have to accomplish certain targets and objectives," he said.

“When you start to remodel the squad into a much healthier position then it is the moment you can evolve and start to make other decisions in relation to a lot of things that happen. It's not just intention, it's about what happens as well with many other players."
