KUDAT: The search for a fisherman who went missing while fishing with a fellow fisherman in the waters between Kg Limbuak Laut and Pulau Balambangan on Saturday has been called off at 6.30pm on Wednesday.
The missing fisherman is identified as Kamri Kail, 51, while his friend, Lauran Maujan, 53, was found dead by villagers in the Kg Selamat waters off Pulau Balambangan, near here, on Tuesday.
Kudat Maritime Zone Director Commander Boon Chin Cau, in a statement Thursday, said the chances of finding the fisherman is slim as the search sector became too large and difficult to coordinate with the limited amount of assets.
According to Boon, the two victims were reported missing in the waters of Kampung Limbuak Laut and Pulau Balambangan Kudat last Saturday.
