Former England goalkeeper Rob Green has attempted to defend Manchester United's underachieving players.

Green was reacting to a banner shown during United's FA Cup win against Aston Villa citing past 'standards'.

Green said, "Talking about standards, what are the standards?

"The statement is these players aren't good enough. Don't vent it at the players, not their fault. If you are going to get ridiculed by your own fans, it isn't helping.

"If they aren't good enough to play for Man Utd, it's not the players fault. It's the clubs problem for employing them."
