Ayob Khan appointed PDRM’s federal narcotics director

KUALA LUMPUR – Former Johor police chief commissioner Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has been appointed Bukit Aman’s new Narcotics Department director.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani announced Ayob’s appointment after witnessing the duty handover ceremony held at the Police Training College in the city earlier today.

Ayob, also formerly the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Unit’s principal assistant director, will be replacing Datuk Razarudin Husain after the latter was appointed the deputy inspector-general of police on Christmas Eve last year.

“I am confident that with his wealth of experience in policing, Ayob is capable of undertaking the trust given to him with excellence, and of further strengthening the leadership within the Royal Malaysian Police in facing whatever challenges that lie ahead,” Acryl said in a statement today.

Ayob has been the Johor police chief since March 2020, prior to which he served within the Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Unit since August 2016.

Hailing from Pendang, Kedah, Ayob will turn 56 years old this year. – The Vibes, January 3, 2022
