This past week we have been bombarded with one after another ‘exciting’ stories in both our local politics and sports arena so now, I would like to divert your attention to a more ‘relaxed’ news of some popular celebrities that have been circulating in the world wide web recently. It’s certainly great to hear about engagements and weddings so congratulatory wishes for both couples but news of a divorce is not as joyful, but hopefully, the couple would find happiness from their decision — albeit separately.
An Engagement
Not sure if you have heard, but Megan Fox, the bombshell who was famous from 2007’s first Transformers franchise by the famous director, Michael Bay, is now back on the news when she very recently got engaged to Machine Gun Kelly (real name: Colson Baker). Megan Fox was a divorcée who married Brian Austin Green — another well-known actor from his days in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 — back in 2010. They had three children together but alas, the marriage didn’t last long and their divorce was finalised in 2021.
Megan Fox has been dating Machine Gun Kelly, an American rapper, singer, musician and actor since 2020. The rumours of their relationship were circulated and later confirmed when Megan appeared in MGK’s music video for Bloody Valentine.
However, a more ‘weird’ news that came out of this engagement is the engagement ring itself which MGK himself designed with Stephen Webster. It is said that the ring would Megan if she ever tried to pull it off her finger. Weird but how exactly is that supposed to happen?
“I know the tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birthstone) and the diamond (my birthstone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.” — MGK said, sharing the photo and video of the ring on his Instagram.
He also said that since the band is in the style of thorns, if she tries to take the ring off, it would hurt her, which he later added the reason was that, “Love is pain!”
This does not come as a surprise, however, considering that Megan Fox and MGK celebrated their engagement by drinking each other’s blood after she said yes. Never knew they were vampires!
A Wedding
Such a beautiful day when two of Korea’s very popular celebrities walked down the aisle a couple of days ago after the very public news of the bride’s pregnancy and the impending wedding was shared on her social media at the end of last year.
Famous for many incredible movies and dramas like Pinocchio, The Heirs, Memories of the Alhambra, The Royal Tailor, Miracle In Cell No. 7, and many others, Park Shin-Hye tied the knot with another famous Korean actor, Choi Tae-Joon in a private ceremony in Seoul. Dressed in a white off-shoulder dress with a veil and tiara while the groom dons a sharp black suit and bow-tie, the wedded couple looked extremely happy being surrounded by close family and friends.
One of the guests, actress Lee Sun-Bin shared a series of photos and videos of the happy couple on her Instagram whereas Park Shin-Hye herself shared a more traditional photo of herself wearing the Hanbok and accessories on her Instagram with the caption, “Thank you to everyone who sent many blessings and congratulations.”
Like a scene in a movie, right after the couple exchanged vows, the song Beautiful by Crush (one of the many original soundtracks in the drama series Goblin) was played. Another famous Korean actor who was her guest was Lee Min-Ho, her co-star in the drama series “The Heirs”.
Lee Min-Ho took it to Instagram to share a selfie of himself in what looked like an elevator and a peek at the wedding invitation. What was funny was that instead of addressing the invitation to Lee Min-Ho, the invitation was for “Kim Tan” — Min-Ho’s character in the drama series “The Heirs”. So, it was only apt when Min-Ho captioned the photo he posted as “Do I congratulate you?”, a very similar line to the very popular “Do I like you?” that he asked her in the drama.

A Divorce

Many speculations arise when Jason Momoa and his wife of 5 years, Lisa Bonet took it to Instagram to announce their separation and divorce. Jason Momoa, who shot to fame a few years back especially after appearing in HBO’s TV series Game Of Thrones as Khal Drogo, DC’s Aquaman and in the very recent box office movie, Dune, has been in a relationship with Lisa Bonet for about 17 years before marrying her.
Last week, the pair announced their divorce in a joint statement that was posted on Jason’s official Instagram account (now deleted). It seemed that the couple’s career paths have drifted them further apart from each other. Jason, who was once struggling to find work is now on a more successful path and he’s taking this chance to work as hard as he could. The evolution of their selves has also changed the outlook of their selves as well as both of them as a unit.
Although they have chosen to divorce, both Jason and Lisa remain friends so that they can both raise two of their children; son Nakoa-Wolf, 13. and daughter Lola, 14, amicably.
Divorce is sad, especially if two people still loved each other but has only grown apart due to distance and busy lifestyle. Hopefully, both Jason and Lisa can find happiness in this life choice and their children will grow strong and understanding about this choice they make. Wish them both all the best in the future!
