RANAU: The landslip that occurred at the Ranau Sports Complex on January 2 morning had caused communication between the Ministry of Health (KKM) and those placed at the Covid-19 quarantine centre there to be limited.
However, Ranau Public Works Department (JKR) Chief Mac Glen Frederick Lojuman (pic) said immediately after the incident, JKR got its local contractors to carry out a gotong-royong by bringing their respective machines to clear the landslide.
“We are concerned about the situation of the individuals at the quarantine centre who have difficulty accessing food supplies due to the landslip.
“At this time, the MOH and Ranau District Disaster Operations Room (PKOB) are facing difficulty in sending food and medicine to those at the quarantine centre,” he said.
As the work of clearing the rubble takes a long time, Mac Glen said the Ranau JKR took the initiative to increase the number of machines to clear the rubbles.
“On Tuesday, five machines were involved in doing the clearing work in the area. We expect the work to be completed by midnight Tuesday or Wednesday morning at the latest.
“We will give priority to the vehicles of the authorities to pass through the blocked area so that they can reach those who are still placed at the quarantine centre,” he said.
