Former referee Gianpaolo Calvarese has joined AS Roma.
Roma have hired Calvarese to advise the players and coach Jose Mourinho through officiating and the VAR protocol.
Calvarese has been working as a match analyst for Italian TV coverage of the Champions League and will do similar explanations behind the scenes for Roma.
He will be advising Mourinho's squad, along with the women's and Primavera youth teams.
Roma made the decision after being left regularly frustrated with this season's refereeing and VAR calls.
