Manchester United have snapped a three-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory over ten-man Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Seagulls dominated proceedings in the first-half and should have gone ahead when Jakub Moder was allowed a free header in the box.

A spectacular save from David De Gea denied the Polish midfielder and Graham Potter's were ultimately punished for not taking advantage of their superiority.

United went ahead just six minutes into the second-half thanks to an excellent solo goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Having gone six games without a goal - his longest dry spell since 2009 - Ronaldo showed his class by firing past Robert Sanchez from the edge of the box.

Things went from bad to worse for Brighton when Lewis Dunk was shown a red-card for bringing down Anthony Elanga, who was in on goal.

Moder then almost levelled for Albion with a curling effort that hit bar.

Nerves were palpable inside Old Trafford as United had blown 1-0 leads in their previous three games against Burnley, Middlesbrough and Southampton.

But the Red Devils held on and eventually sealed victory deep in stoppage time through Bruno Fernandes.

Ralf Rangnick's side are now into the top-four, two points above fifth-placed West Ham United.
