
Tuaran: The water problem faced by about 100 villagers in Kampung Rungus Nahaba, Tamparuli, here, is finally over with the completion of a gravity water filtration house in the village.
Kampung Rungus Nahaba Development and Safety Committee Chairman Madius Antie said, the new facility treats water continuously from gravity-fed water catchment to be used by the villagers.
“Villagers experience water supply problem whenever it rains heavily as the village is located in the downhill area,” he said during the Rural Clean Gravity Water Innovation working visit by the Rural Development Ministry, recently.
Previously, villagers collected water in a tank and the water was distributed among them while waiting for water in the catchment area turned clear.
“We are thankful for this facility as 22 houses and premises here will benefit from it.”
Aside from homes, the water will also be channelled directly to houses of worship, a multipurpose hall and a primary school.
The programme was attended by State Rural Development Minister cum Tamparuli assemblyman Datuk Jahid Jahim, Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister cum Kiulu chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and Federal Rural Development Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Ramlan Harun.
