Yesterday, Russia shocked the world by invading Ukraine after Russian president, Vladimir Putin declared that his country could not feel ‘safe’ and ‘develop’ under the ‘constant threat’ of modern Ukraine.

We saw Russia attacking from land and from the air, but this story comes after a Russian warship bombed and killed 13 Ukrainian soldiers who were defending Zmiinyi Island, a tiny Ukranian island in the Black Sea.

According to a report by CNN, the military warship had threatened the soldiers with a bombing if they didn’t wave the white flag.

This is a Russian military warship, I repeat. I suggest you surrender your weapons and capitulate. Otherwise, I will open fire. Do you copy?,” a Russian officer could be heard saying in a radio clip.

A Ukranian soldier could then be heard softly asking his colleague, “This is it. Should I tell him to go f*ck himself?

“Just in case,” someone could be heard whispering in response.

The Ukranian soldier then turns up the radio volume and proudly says,

“Russian warship, go f*ck yourself.”

Following the exchange, Ukranian president, Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that all 13 soldiers on the island were killed in the bombing.

“All border guards died heroically but did not give up. They will be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine posthumously,” Zelensky said.

We genuinely hope that the Russia-Ukraine conflict comes to a swift end.
