Narrow Marrow opened its doors to the loyal fans of their cakes and drinks in 2014 where it began as a hub for the founders’ friends. It is now well known for its tiramisu, cheesecakes, coffee and toddy (a locally fermented palm wine). They relocated to 312, Lebuh Pantai 10300 George Town, Penang, Malaysia in 2020.

The vibe of this cafe is chill with a good playlist to relax and have a chat with friends.

The more you look around the more you will notice different trinkets and antiques surrounding you.

I highly recommend the handcrafted Toddy Mojito which has a refreshing hint of mint and the flavours are not overwhelming. As for the cakes, Baked Cheese Cake Coconut Clitoria which has the butterfly pea flower essence (the scientific name is Clitoria ternatea which explains the name) and topped with roasted coconut flakes and white chocolate crumbs.

Location: 312, Lebuh Pantai 10300 George Town, Penang, Malaysia

Opening hours: Thursday- Monday 3 pm11 pm

Norm cafe is hidden in a corner in Lebuh Carnavon and is pretty easy to miss. This cafe is very cosy and simplistic and you can see many people taking their OOTD photos in this space. Norm cafe also roasts their coffee beans in Norm Micro Roastery.

They serve an array of waffles, pasta, artisanal coffee and tea. There’s a variety of freshly made waffles that you can try here, ranging from savoury to sweet-tasting waffles to favour whatever you feel like eating that day. The waffles are crisp on the outside but light and airy inside.

When night falls this cafe does a 360 change to a bar called Noct Penang. Stay for a good cocktail, a favourite on the menu to explore is the Tipsy in Tambun, a pomelo infused gin, vodka and lemon with an osmanthus essence cocktail.
