Molest: Pakistani fails in appeal

Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old Pakistani failed in his appeal against his conviction and sentence of 12 years’ jail for

committing physical sexual abuse against his underage female worker, three years ago.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell in her ruling, dismissed Ahmad Imtiaz’s appeal and upheld the Sessions Court’s decision.

Ahmad was on Nov 4, 2019 sentenced to 12 years jail by the Sessions Court after he was found guilty after a full trial.

Ahmad was convicted of hugging the then 14-year-old girl, fondling her breasts and rubbing his genitals against the victim’s back at 6pm on Feb 20, 2019 at the Kedai Runcit Pakhtun Khwan Enterprise in Penampang.

The offence under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

Ahmad was also ordered to be placed under police supervision for two years after serving the jail term.
