Newcastle United are moving Alan Shearer's statue back within the stadium's grounds.
Chronicle Live says the Shearer statue was erected by the city council in 2016 when Mike Ashley would not entertain the idea of it being placed close to the Sir Bobby Robson statue near the Gallowgate End.
But a council notice near the ground shows clearly that a planning application has been submitted and providing there are no objections, Shearer will be moved to "home" turf.
Ashley's reasoning to not allow the £250,000 statue to be placed in a more prominent position is thought to be down to his breakdown in communications with the legendary number 9.
The former owner also hauled Shearer's name off the stadium bar and renamed it "Nine" in what was deemed another bitter swipe by supporters.
