Kota Kinabalu: A video has gone viral showing a snake on an airplane supposedly travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau yesterday, which may have caused the aircraft to be diverted to Kuching, Sarawak, according to a report.

The 14-second clip was uploaded on TikTok by a user, who said the plan had to land in the neighbouring state instead.

The video appears to show the snake slithering inside a lighting compartment near the overhead reading light and air-conditioner blower console.

Another user left a comment on the TikTok post, saying he was on the plane.

"The captain had to land in Kuching," Deasoka reported the user as saying.

"At the time, we guessed as much that they'd extricate the snake first."

Yet another user made a comment saying they had at first thought the plane landed in Kuching due to heavy rain.

"Oddly, why was there a fire engine opposite the plane's door," wondered the user.

The video had garnered 674 comments and over 23,000 likes, reported the news service.
