Former Chelsea defender Paulo Fonseca says Portugal should welcome Roman Abramovich's citizenship.
The Chelsea owner has been granted Portuguese citizenship last year.
Fonseca, who now acts as loan manager at Chelsea, said: "In my opinion, we should be happy to have someone like Mr Abramovich as a Portuguese citizen.
"He is a great person who has been doing great things in the countries where he lives and does business.
"His presence is positive, we should be pleased."
Abramovich became a naturalised Portuguese in April 2021 under the Nationality Law as a descendant of Sephardic Jews expelled from Portugal in the 15th century, reports the Público newspaper.
