Newcastle United defeated North Shields on penalties in the Northumberland Senior Cup.
Chronicle Live says in a well-contested semi-final the Robins showed why they are one of the best ran clubs in the Northern League by proving to be great hosts and demonstrated their quality on the field too by holding a professional side.
Newcastle left the ground with the victory and will now face Blyth Spartans or Bedlington Terriers in the final. However, the club's new owners showed their quality again by sanctioning a gesture that saw North Shields handed all of the gate receipts from the 912 strong crowd.
A statement from North Shields read: "North Shields Football Club would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Newcastle who have kindly donated all of the gate receipts to North Shields.
"This means a great deal to us, thank you!"
