Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder admits he thought their equaliser would be "chalked off" during their FA Cup defeat of Manchester United.

It was claimed Duncan Watmore handballed before setting up Matt Crooks to score in the second half, and VAR officials ruled that it was accidental.

Wilder admitted that he thought it would rule it out.

"The Premier League is the be all and end all, and the decisions that are made through VAR have changed," said Wilder.

"I thought it was handball and my initial reaction is it would be chalked off – I'm delighted it wasn't."

Old Trafford trainee Watmore said the handball was 'completely accidental' and former United man Paddy McNair: "I was at the other end of the pitch so didn't see it. Was it handball? We'll take it!"
