With Covid-19 cases once again skyrocketing, it appears that Malaysians have been desensitised by this repeating pattern.
You could say, some are even laughing in the face of Covid-19.
Majlis Perbandaran Kajang shared images of Hall A MAEPS Serdang, where they are re-setting up a quarantine centre. While many people showed concern considering the quarantine centre had to be put back in place due to the high number of cases, others believe the severity of the situation may be over-exaggerated.
“Rearranging the facilities at Hall A Quarantine Centre. We are assisting in the preparation of MAEPS Serdang Quarantine Centre together with several other agencies,” Majlis Perbandaran Kajang wrote.
Many believe that the current surge of Covid-19 cases is a hoax.
“May we be protected from human deception.”
“(The quarantine centre) opens only when Hari Raya is around the corner. After Hari Raya, it’ll close back. Same thing every year.”
“They like to quarantine regular folks. Highers up will be able to celebrate Hari Raya freely later. Wait and see!”
“I hope (the quarantine centre) will be filled with Malaysians and foreigners. You so badly want the cases to go up. KKM will be busy running here and there.”
Others pointed out that this is no laughing matter.
“Many are saying this is a gimmick, but this is reality. There are more and more cases everyday. Only when you are infected will you know how it feels.”
“Yes, cases are going up. My brother’s family tested positive. My siblings’ offices and my husband has to work from home because many of their colleagues tested positive.”
“Yes, there really are a lot of cases right now. Many of my family members tested positive this week.”
“Hope everything goes well. There are too many cases now. Those who have yet to be infected, let them laugh.”
