KINABATANGAN: Police are hunting for a Covid-19 positive detainee who escaped from the Kota Kinabatangan Hospital’s quarantine detention room at about 2am, Tuesday.

District Police Chief Supt Dzulbaharin Ismail said the suspect was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a pair of jeans.

“The suspect is Suhin Mursidi, a 37-year-old Filipino,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.

He added, the initial investigation found that the detainee was arrested by the police at Pontian Pico Estate quarters, on Feb 18, for possession of suspected syabu.

The suspect was then transferred to Kota Kinabatangan Hospital for Covid-19 swab test, in which he was found positive.

“He was referred to the hospital for further treatment before escaping through the back door of the men’s ward.”

Dzulbaharin urged the public to contact the Kinabatangan Control Centre at 089-561890 or directly contact investigation officer Inspector Norazmeer Azmi ditalian 013-6309080 if they have any information on Suhin’s whereabouts.
