The Portuguese forward was withdrawn due to an ankle injury during the 2-0 win over Inter Milan on Thursday.
Jota was wearing a protective boot as Liverpool returned from Italy on Thursday afternoon.
He underwent initial scans and is now expected to undergo further tests on Merseyside.
The 25-year-old is a major doubt for this weekend's clash against Norwich City and Leeds' visit to Anfield next Wednesday.
