Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government will channel a special aid worth RM2.4mil to 120 owners of homes destroyed by fire in a Kudat village recently, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.

Each owner will get RM20,000 in building materials to rebuild their homes.

"I hope this aid will in some way lessen the fire victims' burden," said Hajiji in a statement today.

"This aid shows the State Government's concern and solidarity with people stricken by calamity or hardship."

More than 1,600 people were made homeless in the fire which destroyed 179 houses in Kampung Landung Ayang.
