Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court here set March 9 for further mention the case of a 33-year-old man charged with having 32.14gm of syabu.

Judge Elsie Primus fixed the date for Mohd Fauzi Roslim whose case was brought up for mention via Zoom on Monday.

The court set the date to monitor the status of the representation letter by the counsel.

Counsel Amli Nohin who defended Mohd Fauzi, requested for an adjournment for him to prepare the representation letter to the prosecution as he is unable to meet his client in prison.

Amli said in view of the alarming Covid-19 situation in prison, prisoners are being quarantined for the time being.

Mohd Fauzi is accused of having the drug at 4.35pm on Dec 17, 2020 in front of the Borneo Auto Enterprise in Sulaman Sentral, Manggatal, here.

The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping of at least 10 strokes of the cane on conviction.

Mohd Fauzi is currently serving a sentence for another offence.
