KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 — Malaysians online reported feeling tremors here, after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit West Sumatera this morning around 9.43am local time.
The tremors were reportedly felt in Klang Valley in areas such as Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang.
Witnesses reported seeing their doors and chairs shaking and objects fixed to the walls trembling.

Several reported having to evacuate their office buildings for safety.
The Meteorological Department said that the earthquake in Indonesia happened at 9.39am, with tremors felt in Selangor, Perak, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
It later updated that tremors were reported as far away as Pahang.
It also said that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department also said in a statement it received 20 emergency calls between 9.45am and 10.45 am regarding the tremors.
It had then directed fire stations in Kuala Lumpur to attend to the calls and ensure the safety of the occupants in the buildings/
“So far we have not received any calls involving damage to structures or occupants being hurt,” it said.
