Based on reports, in keeping up with the Ukraine-Russia crisis, a Ukrainian soldier sacrifices himself while bombing a bridge, as means to slow down Russian tanks.
Vitaly Skakun Volodymyrovych was stationed at Henichesk bridge in the Kherson region (one of the many entry points from Crimea), during a standoff with Russian forces.

Tasked to blow up the bridge to slow down incoming tanks, he unfortunately failed to get away from the bridge before blowing it up.
According to a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Ukraine, the soldiers told his fellow comrades that he was going to blow up the bridge, which was then followed by an explosion shortly after.
The statement also noted that Skakun's sacrifice did in fact slow down the advancement, and gave the Ukrainian unit a chance to relocate and reorganise their defences.
