SANDAKAN: Sabah Malaysian Parents Consultative Association (Mapim) urged the Education Ministry to disallow face-to-face schooling temporarily as the State recorded a sudden surge of Covid-19 infections among students.
Its President Otoh Sibik Sahak (pic) said the number of cases in almost all districts had increased, and stopping face-to-face learning is one of the most effective ways to break the chain of infection.
“This situation is worrying, especially parents and teachers in the State,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.
He said it is even more worrying when the clusters involved boarding schools.
“Aside from complying with the set standard operating procedures (SOPs), the school management as well as the District Education Offices should also conduct thorough observation.
“The public are also advised to follow the SOPs and let’s pray for Covid-19 to be lifted away from this world so that we can live normally again,” he said.
