Everton boss Frank Lampard is confident their new midfield pair will offer more against Leeds.

January transfer deadline day signing Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek made their Everton debuts from the substitutes' bench in defeat at Newcastle. Alli was introduced on 25 minutes following an injury to Demarai Gray, while van de Beek played the final half-hour of the contest.

Lampard believes the pair will benefit from their first taste of competitive action for the Blues and is convinced their qualities can elevate Everton collective performances.

“It was good for them to get minutes," he said. “I thought they both showed elements of their game that are going to benefit us.

“Longer term, they will get better – they will settle in with the Club and new teammates.

“It was a difficult game for them, but they'll keep improving for us. They will both offer a lot."
