Sarawak tops states with Covid-19 vaccine boosted teachers

KUALA LUMPUR – Sarawak has the highest percentage of teachers who have received their Covid-19 vaccine booster jabs with up to 90%, while neighbouring Sabah only managed to notch 41.5%.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin praised Sarawak in a tweet: “Keeping schools safe. Sarawak doing everything right.” 

Labuan is at the second spot with 80.8%, followed by Kuala Lumpur (77.9%), Melaka (71.7%), Negri Sembilan (65.5%) and Putrajaya (62.2%).

States in the 50% range are Pahang (58.9%), Penang (58.7%), Terengganu (58.3%), Kedah (57.5%), Perak (55.5%) and Johor (55%).

The two states joining Sabah at the bottom rungs are Kelantan (47.8%) and Perlis (44.8%). This brings Malaysia’s overall percentage to 61.1%

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal said Malaysia administered 149,361 booster shots yesterday. 

This brings the total percentage of Malaysians with booster shots to 39.1%, with a total of 12,769,610.

The Klang Valley has the highest percentage of boosted residents at 57.4%, followed by Sarawak at 51.9%. – The Vibes, February 9, 2022
