ALOR SETAR: An unemployed man was charged at the Sessions Court here today, on two charges of exploiting his niece for prostitution.
Musa Abu Seman, 45, however, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Harmi Thamri Mohamad.
He allegedly acted as a middleman by introducing the then 16-year-old victim to a 25-year-old man for the purpose of prostitution in an unnumbered house in Pendang, around March to April 2020.

For the second charge, the accused was charged for once again acting as a middleman by introducing the victim to a now 37-year-old man for the purpose of prostitution in an unnumbered house in Kampung Sukamari, also in Pendang in May 2021.

He was charged under Section 373 (1) (f) of the Penal Code which if convicted, carries a maximum jail term of 15 years as well as whipping and fine. The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Siti Nurul Suhaila Baharin, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
Siti Nurul applied to the court not to allow bail as the case attracted public attention and serious offenses. The judge then ruled that the accused could not be released on bail and set March 15 for re-mention of the case.
