Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has carried out a raid on offices at the Mara headquarters here in its investigation into five senior officials.

Several MACC officers were seen entering Menara Mara at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman at about 10.30am today.

They were believed to be looking for documents and taking statements from some officers there.

FMT learnt that MACC officers had also entered two other buildings linked to Mara – Mara Corporation in the same area as well as Mara Corporation’s corporate secretarial company, Prudenz CorporateHouse Sdn Bhd.

This followed alleged wrongdoing involving “backdated” payments by the five Mara officials in a “cross-fertilisation” programme.

The allegation was made by whistleblower Twitter account Edisi Khas, which “exposed” an alleged internal letter concerning abuse of power by the officials.

The officials denied involvement and filed a police report yesterday.

MACC said in a statement later that it would call up several individuals from the corporation to give their statements.
