Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani returned to Manchester United training today.

Lingard was advised to take more time off after a transfer to Newcastle collapsed on deadline day, although he disputed manager Ralf Rangnick's version that 'Jesse asked me and the club if we could give him a couple of days off just to clear up his mind.'.

Cavani asked Rangnick if he could stay in Uruguay for two more days after playing for the national side and subsequently missed the Boro match. Cavani, 34, and Lingard, 29, are out of contract in June.

Fred left United's Carrington training complex after 20 minutes after arriving on Monday morning, says the Manchester Evening News.

Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho came off against Middlesbrough but Rangnick suggested both should be fit to play against Burnley tomorrow night.
