
Tuaran: A family of ten were left with nothing but clothes on their backs after the house they lived in Kg Tinuhan, Tenghilan was razed last Sunday.
Fortunately, the 4.20pm incident did not involve any injuries or casualties.
District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said upon receiving the distress call at 4.25pm, nine personnel were deployed to the scene along with fire truck, an Emergency Medical Rescue Services Services (EMRS) vehicle and a utility vehicle.
“Upon arrival, the semi -permanent house was already 100 per cent destroyed due to the rapid spread of fire.
“Belongings and some important documents were destroyed in the blaze.
“The operation ended at 5.20pm while the cause of the incident and the estimated loss are still being investigated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Abdul Qawie said another non-permanent house at Kg Sungai Damit was 100 per cent destroyed by fire albeit of any injuries.
“The house was occupied by an individual and was reported safe. The 9.29pm incident which occurred on Saturday was completely extinguished by 10.12pm.
“Another fire which occurred at 6.25pm on Saturday involving the veranda of a house at Kg Tomis in Tamparuli and was successfully extinguished before it spread to other structures,” he said.
He said the estimated loss and the cause of the two fires are still being investigated.
