Newcastle United director Amanda Staveley says Lille defender Sven Botman wanted to join them last month.
Newcastle pushed to sign the Holland international during the January market and Staveley has hinted they'll try again this summer.
The Toon chief said: "This winter, some players really wanted to come with us like Sven Botman."
French champions Lille refused to consider selling Botman at the time, though that stance will change this summer.
