Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira has rejected criticism of his tactics for their Club World Cup final defeat to Chelsea.
Palmeiras took the game to extra-time, though some pundits believes Ferreira's team coughed up possession too easily.
He said, "I don't give the ball to anyone, you have to ask why Chelsea gave the ball to City when they won the Champions League.
"I don't give up the ball, neither I nor my players, but we don't play alone. I'm not going to talk about the details, the individual quality. Do you know how many English people were playing? How many started? How many Brazilians played on my team? For your thoughts.
"I played against the champions of the Champions League, and how many English have played for Chelsea?
“But I'm sorry that people sometimes don't understand that we're not on the same plane. I have to be proud of what we did. If we can, I want to have the ball, but the other side has the opponent's competence."
