Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer has provided an update on the fitness of Manchester United loanee Teden Mengi.

The 19-year-old defender did not manage to complete their Championship defeat against Bournemouth in midweek.

Mengi, who was starting his eighth successive game, was forced off with a hamstring problem.

Bowyer told Birmingham City's official website: "Young Tenden Mengi has just felt his hamstring there too.

"This division is ruthless and demanding and asks a lot of questions of you physically.

"You need the squad to cope with that."
